We have seen significant technology advances/changes in the last decade, from the increasing prominence of SaaS to the growth of social media. In trading however, we continue to be constrained by older technologies and the adoption of new ones lags (for a number of reasons) the wider markets. While SaaS, .Net and Java become more widely adopted in CTRM, however, this market appears to be at least 5 to 10 years behind other analogous segments, such as financial trading. Given this reality and the complexities involved in managing physical commodities, what are our speakers thoughts on the technology future for CTRM; and in particular, how can we leverage “new” technologies to address many of the most pressing challenges of today, such as regulatory reporting, increasing market risk and the ever increasing flood of data in the market.
